Mia Nicolai, an actress turned musician, made the pilgrimage from the U.S. to Mexico City. Its sprawling metropolis, as though New York and LA spawned an even bigger baby, has its own lineage of fostering artists. “I was bored with characters,” she says, “I prefer the character I can be as ‘me.”
Is home a place or a feeling? Dutch born artist Mia Nicolai embodies comfortability in herself and her surroundings and carries that wherever she is. Before she took on Eurovision in 2023, we caught up with her on hiatus in Mexico City while she awaited her American Visa. This is what we see, Mia on a day in Mexico.
